World Read Aloud Day
World Read Aloud Day is an annual event that takes place on the first celebration of the power of reading aloud and sharing stories. The goal of World Read Aloud Day is to promote literacy and the love of reading by encouraging people of all ages to pick up a book and read aloud to someone else, whether it be a child, a friend, a colleague, or a member of their community.
According to some studies, reading aloud builds vocabulary. When we read aloud, students encounter new words, improve comprehension and active listening. Besides, reading reduces stress and makes us happy, it strengthens fluency and Improve working memory.
GBCMC was part of this celebration, last Wednesday February 1st our students and teachers had a moment to read aloud to their students, a part of a story, book and or news. They were engaged and they understood the importance of reading in our lives.
